Hi.

My name is Perpetua.

I tell stories through words, moving images, and movement.

I am of Chinese and Afro-Caribbean heritage and was educated in a French school. Growing up in the edgelands between cultures rooted within me a strong awareness of the multiplicity of life and people.

I am neurodivergent and my non-linear thinking leads me to naturally draw together and work across different subjects to produce unique connections and perspectives.

As an artist, I explore the intersectional, the unexpected, and the unjust. My intention is to create crucial, compelling, and nuanced work that centers strong stories and people.

I am a natural problem-solver and I want my art to have a positive social impact- contributing to a world where people feel more seen and understood.

As part of my industry-led training, I have responded to live briefs from brands such as THE FACE and Epic Games. I have also been commissioned by the Royal Court theater to create digital content.

Young Agitators 2020 x the Royal Court

In recognition of longstanding engagement in disrupting and subverting norms and expectations within theatre, I was selected as one of the Royal Court’s Young Agitators.

At the height of the BlackLivesMatter movement and the COVID-19 pandemic, my team and I were commissioned to create a digital piece of content that spoke to the unprecedented times we were living in. The result was RestToProtest.

Copy written for the piece

Who do you rest for?

Who is being allowed to rest?

When did you last feel rested?

RestToProtest looks to sleep as a political act of resistance for ourselves, and the people that we love.

“We are the children that have been gifted rest from those without it. These are our stories.”

RestToProtest is an online collection of art and stories that will last 5 days.

Each day will bring a new experience of rest.

Stories will be awake during certain hours of the day- allowing for intentional audience engagement- actualising the core message of our piece.

We hope you enjoy.

ANewDirection x Epic Games

My team and I responded to a live brief set by Epic Games to create a pop-up event to market their Unreal Engine to young creatives.

Our idea was to craft an immersive community space showcasing the potential impact of Unreal Engine technology for cultural and social changemakers.

Our deck was selected as the judge's favourite.

Check out our deck.

Feedback from Epic Games

Presentation/Deck:  Great humanity in presentation.  I felt real personality in your addresses and you all felt like authentic people.  Love an agenda.  The deck felt very Epic 'On brand'.  It was great to take a beat and summarize the brief.

Space:  Felt super light and energising - cinematic. A space with a conscience.

Audience:  Liked the mentor offering.  Our main audience are very much the right age for this to be super appealing.

Marketing:  'Unreal Impact'. Great tagline.

Overall:  Like the strategic approach to the brief.  And loved the creative collaboration aspect.  Great use of a competition as a call to action.  Overall the initiative had great strategic Comm's.”
